Tallinn claims Russian Federation violated Estonia’s maritime border

The Estonian Foreign Ministry has summoned the Charge d’Affaires of the Russian Embassy to protest and deliver an official note about the violation of the country’s maritime border.

“The violation of Estonia’s maritime border by Russia is a serious and unacceptable incident. This message has also been handed over to the Charge d’Affaires of the Russian Federation,” Foreign Minister Margus Tzahkna said.

The Foreign Ministry said the violation occurred near the island of Vaindloo, where a Russian border vessel entered Estonian territorial waters without permission on 26 July.

European countries bordering Russia regularly accuse Moscow of violating air or sea borders. For the most part, Russia does not respond to these accusations.
