Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that a trilateral meeting between Ukraine and representatives of the USA and Russia on ending the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine has not yet been agreed upon.
Zelenskyy told journalists on 13 March at the end of his visit to France that the venue of the meeting had not yet been agreed due to different positions of the USA and Russia.
According to him, quoted by a number of media outlets, in particular the Ukrinform agency, the meeting was supposed to take place next week, but it was postponed at the request of the US side.
“There is a whole ” Santa Barbara ” Soap opera “Santa Barbara” for 2137 episodes was released in the United States in 1984-1993. The series was shown in fifty countries, in particular Ukraine with these negotiations – because of the war in the Middle East. The Americans said that they were ready for a meeting, but they were ready only in America, because the war and the security situation forbids them to leave the US territory now,” the president said.
He added that the Ukrainian side confirmed the readiness of its delegation to fly to Miami or to Washington, but the Russian side refused to fly to the United States and suggested Turkey or Switzerland, but the Americans refused this option.
“We immediately said that we are ready for a meeting next week, we are preparing for a meeting in America, and in Switzerland, and in Turkey, and even, if they are not afraid, in the Emirates,” Zelensky said.
Several rounds of trilateral meetings between Ukraine, the US and Russia on ending the war took place during January and February. No specific results were reported. However, as a result of the 5 February meeting, the delegations reached an agreement on a prisoner-of-war exchange – the first in five months.
On 5 and 6 March, Ukraine and Russia also conducted a prisoner exchange. Ukraine was able to return 500 military personnel from Russian captivity. Agreements on this exchange were reached at talks in Geneva in February.
Another meeting, which was scheduled for last week in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi, was postponed indefinitely due to the escalating situation in the Middle East.
