US President Donald Trump is expected to deliver a speech at the funeral service for Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, which will take place on 28 July at the Washington National Cathedral. This has been reported by the American media outlets ABC News and CBS News.
According to the television channel, Graham’s remains will be taken to the US Capitol, where the Republican served for over 30 years, followed by a funeral service at Washington National Cathedral attended by lawmakers and foreign leaders, reflecting his standing on the world stage. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will attend the service.
ABC News reports that the funeral will take place on Wednesday in his home state of South Carolina.
Lindsey Graham was 71. He died on the evening of 11 July in Washington, D.C., shortly after returning from Ukraine. The statement announcing his death said he had died following a “brief and sudden illness”. It later emerged that an ambulance had been called to his home after he complained of chest pain. According to preliminary findings, the cause of his sudden death was an aortic dissection resulting from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
