Trump says ‘great progress’ commenting on Saudi talks

US President Donald Trump said “great progress” was being made, commenting on the talks in Saudi Arabia.

“We’ve made great progress on two fronts, both sections. We call them sections, but they are much more than just sections. Russia, Ukraine, and also the Middle East. We will see what comes out of this,” he noted.

According to him, Washington is having “deep discussions” with Russia and Ukraine.

” I would say it’s going well…we’re making significant progress, so that’s all I can report,” Trump added.

On 23-25 March in Riyadh, US representatives held bilateral talks at the technical level with the Ukrainian delegation.

On 24 March, also in Riyadh, the US delegation held talks with Russian representatives, they lasted more than 12 hours.

Today, the White House said that with Ukraine in Saudi Arabia, among other things, they agreed on safe navigation in the Black Sea and to develop a mechanism to ban strikes on energy facilities.

The Kremlin also released its statement regarding the results of the talks, saying, among other things, that Russian Federation and the US agreed to develop measures to ban strikes on Russian and Ukrainian energy facilities for a period of 30 days starting on 18 March 2025. Washington’s statement did not specify the exact dates.

In addition, Moscow said that the agreement on ensuring the safety of navigation in the Black Sea allegedly comes into force after a number of sanctions against Russia are lifted. Washington did not mention such a condition in its statement.
