US President Donald Trump said during an interaction with journalists that the peace plan proposed by his administration regarding Ukraine was being worked out and “is not a final option”.
Trump emphasised that the main goal of the United States was to achieve peace, which he was convinced should have been established much earlier. He also reiterated the thesis that a full-scale war by Russia against Ukraine, in his opinion, would not have started if he had been president at the time.
According to Trump, the US is working to end the conflict: “One way or another, we have to end this war.”
Asked about Kiev’s possible reaction, Trump said that if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not support the plan proposed by Washington, he would have every right to continue fighting “with all his soul.”
The peace plan prepared in the administration of US President Donald Trump, among other things, proposes that Ukraine actually surrender Donbass and halve the number of AFU.
As reported by Western publications, the plan was prepared with the participation of Russian representatives. Europe and Ukraine were not involved in the development of the plan. The Trump administration is putting strong pressure on the Ukrainian authorities, expecting Kiev to agree to approve the peace plan in the next few days, the Financial Times reported, citing sources.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky received a copy of the plan and said he was ready to work with the US on it. His office emphasised that Kiev and Washington had agreed to “work on the points of the plan in a way that will lead to a dignified end to the war”.
The Kremlin is ready to negotiate the end of the war with Ukraine but is not discussing any peace plan so far, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov has said.
