Trump: the last person we need help from is Zelensky

US President Donald Trump has once again publicly rejected Ukraine’s help in defending itself against Iranian drones in an interview with NBC News.

The President of the United States was asked about criticism from some foreign leaders about the lifting of sanctions against Russia. He did not answer directly, saying: “I’m surprised Zelensky doesn’t want to make a deal. Tell Zelensky to make a deal because Putin is willing to make a deal.”

Trump stated that “it’s much harder to make a deal with Zelensky.”

The US president also said that Washington “doesn’t need help”, adding that “the last person we need help from is Zelensky”.

At the same time, he did not comment on whether the USA had received help from Ukraine with interceptor drones amid the operation against Iran.

In early March, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine would help Middle Eastern countries defend themselves against Iranian attacks, with Ukrainian experts on the ground. The Financial Times wrote that the USA and an unnamed Persian Gulf country were interested in buying Ukrainian interceptor drones. Iran called Ukraine a “legitimate target”.
