US President Donald Trump has urged Israel and Iran to make a peace deal.
“Iran and Israel must make an agreement and they will, just as I got India and Pakistan to make an agreement, in this case using trade with the United States to bring intelligence, cohesion and discretion to the negotiations with two outstanding leaders who were able to make a quick decision and stop,” Trump wrote on the Truth Social network.
He said that in his first term of presidency, he achieved an end to the conflict between Serbia and Kosovo, and promoted a peaceful settlement between Egypt and Ethiopia.

“Likewise, we will soon achieve peace between Israel and Iran,” Trump emphasised.
Earlier in an interview with ABC News, the US President said that Washington could intervene in the settlement of the conflict between Israel and Iran. At the same time, he clarified that now the US is not involved in the conflict.
Trump also said that he does not rule out the mediation of Russian President Vladimir Putin in peace talks. “He’s willing. He called me about it. We discussed it at length,” Trump said.
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Tehran is ready to conclude an agreement guaranteeing the renunciation of nuclear weapons. Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency reported.

“We are ready for any agreement whose goal would be to ensure that Iran does not have nuclear weapons, because according to our principle, nuclear weapons are banned. But if the aim is to deprive Iran of its nuclear rights, then naturally we are not ready for such an agreement,” Araqchi stressed in a meeting with foreign ambassadors on 15 June.
Earlier, Iran refused to participate in the sixth round of talks with the US on the nuclear deal. The meeting was to be held on Sunday, 15 June. According to Araqchi, the US made unacceptable proposals, while Iran planned to present its own plan that could have brought about a deal.
Israel began airstrikes on Iranian territory on 13 June, attacking nuclear, military and energy facilities. Iran responded with missile and drone strikes against Israel. According to the latest figures, Israeli attacks in Iran have killed about 140 people, including military officials. In Israel, 15 people were killed in Iranian strikes, according to the Health Ministry.
