Turkey and the US have signed a memorandum of understanding on nuclear energy co-operation, Turkish Energy Ministry head Alparslan Bayraktar said.
“Following a meeting in the presence of the leaders and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, we signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic civilian nuclear technical co-operation. I hope that the work to be carried out under the agreement will bring mutual benefits to both countries in the future,” he wrote on social network X.
The US side has not yet announced details of the memorandum.
US President Donald Trump held a meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White House today. Before the talks, he suggested that Washington might lift sanctions against the Turkish defence industry, which were imposed because of the multi-billion dollar contract for the purchase of the Russian S-400 anti-missile system.
