Polish security services have neutralised a drone in the centre of the capital Warsaw, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on the evening of 15 September, without specifying exactly when it happened.
“Recently, the State Guard Service neutralised a drone that was operating over government buildings (Parkowa Street) and Belvedere Palace. Two citizens of Belarus were detained. The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident,” wroteTusk in the network X.
Last week, 10 September, Polish authorities said that 19 Russian drones had violated the country’s airspace during a night attack on Ukraine, they were shot down by NATO forces.
The operation involved Polish F-16 fighter jets, Dutch F-35s, Italian AWACS reconnaissance aircraft and NATO-shared refuelling planes.
The Russian defence ministry claimed that Russian forces carried out a massive strike with precision weapons and drones against Ukrainian military-industrial complex companies in five regions on the night of September 10, while “no targets were planned in Poland”.
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said after a meeting of ambassadors of the alliance’s member states that NATO allies expressed solidarity with Poland and condemned Russia’s behaviour.
