The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has condemned the participation of US director Woody Allen in the Moscow International Film Week.
“This is a disgrace and an insult to the sacrifice of Ukrainian actors and filmmakers who were killed or injured by Russian war criminals during Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. By participating in a festival that unites Putin’s supporters and mouthpieces, Allen is knowingly turning a blind eye to the atrocities that Russia has been committing in Ukraine on a daily basis for 11 years now,” the statement said.
The 89-year-old US director spoke at the Moscow event via video link on 24 August.
