In the United States, the Supreme Court has decided to limit the power of lower courts to block President Donald Trump’s executive order banning the granting of US citizenship by right of land to the children of illegal immigrants.
The Supreme Court ruling said Trump’s executive order could not take effect until 30 days after the current decision.
According to Reuters, the ruling passed by a six to three vote. Trump, commenting on the Supreme Court ruling, called it a “gigantic victory.”
Donald Trump signed an executive order limiting the granting of US citizenship by birthright after his inauguration on 20 January. Authorities in more than 20 states appealed the document in the courts. Several courts in different states temporarily blocked the decree, after which the Trump administration appealed to the US Supreme Court.
