Russia has claimed a massive attack by unmanned aerial vehicles on the territory of the Volgograd Region.
According to Volgograd Region Governor Andrei Bocharov, in the south of Volgograd, the fall of UAV debris caused a fire in the roof of a building of one of the buildings of Hospital No. 16 and on the territory of the refinery. According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties.
Russian media subsequently reported that the fire was extinguished.
The Russian Defence Ministry on the morning of 19 August reported the interception of 23 Ukrainian drones over two Russian regions and occupied Crimea. It was not specified how many drones were launched.
The AFU General Staff reported that on the night of 14 August, the Ukrainian military hit the Volgograd oil refinery (Lukoil LLC), which supplies the Russian army with oil products. According to the headquarters, the hit by attack UAVs caused heavy fires at the refinery.
As the ASTRA telegram channel reported, Lukoil’s Volgograd plant suspended operations due to damage after the UAV attack.
Since the beginning of 2024, Russian refineries have been regularly attacked by Ukrainian drones. At some refineries, primary oil refining units failed and required repairs.
The AFU General Staff from time to time confirms strikes on facilities in the Russian Federation involved in supplying the Russian army and notes that such strikes will continue.
