Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky plans to discuss all details on ending the war with US President Donald Trump in Washington on Monday, 18 August.
“All details on the end of the killings, on the end of the war I am going to discuss with President Trump in Washington on Monday. Thank you for the invitation,” Zelensky wrote in his Telegram channel on Saturday after his phone call with Trump.
The president said that the long and informative conversation with the American leader was first one-on-one and then also with the participation of European leaders. In total, the leaders spoke for more than an hour and a half, about an hour with Trump.
“Ukraine again confirms that it is ready to work as productively as possible for peace. President Trump informed me about his meeting with the Russian leader, about the main points of the conversation. It is important that the strength of America influences the development of the situation,” – said Zelensky.
He emphasised that Ukraine supports Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting Ukraine – USA – Russia.
“Ukraine emphasises: key issues can be discussed at the level of leaders, and the trilateral format is suitable for this,” the Ukrainian head of state added.
In addition, he emphasised the importance of Europe being involved at all stages for the sake of reliable security together with the US.
The leaders discussed positive signals from the US side regarding the involvement in Ukraine’s security.
“We continue to coordinate our positions with all partners. Thank you all who are helping,” the President summarised.
