A scandal has erupted in Poland: a man who threatened the life of the country’s Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, has been arrested. Poland’s Minister of the Interior and Administration, Marcin Kerwinski, confirmed the news on social media, adding that the police had acted swiftly and decisively.
Donald Tusk, former President of the European Council and one of Poland’s most influential politicians, personally thanked the police for their prompt action. He emphasised the importance of a swift response from law enforcement agencies in such situations, where the safety of the country’s leaders is at stake.
The incident occurred against the backdrop of a series of attacks at Polish educational institutions. This is already the third knife attack in the last week alone. In Warsaw, a 21-year-old student attacked three women with a knife at an adult education centre. Two 17-year-old girls and a 24-year-old woman were injured.
The attack took place on Minska Street in Warsaw’s Praga district. One of the minors was hospitalised with cuts to her forearm, but fortunately her condition was not life-threatening. The other victims sustained minor injuries and declined hospital treatment. The attacker was subdued thanks to the swift reaction of a member of staff at the educational institution, after which the police detained the student.
These alarming events raise serious questions about safety in Polish institutions and society as a whole. The authorities are working actively to prevent similar incidents in the future and to ensure the safety of all citizens.
