The US company Apple Inc. increased its net profit by 27 per cent and its revenue by 16 per cent in the third quarter of the 2026 financial year.
Earnings per share and revenue figures were record highs for the third financial quarter. However, Apple’s forecast for the current quarter suggests a slowdown in sales growth, which the company attributes, in particular, to supply chain issues.
According to the company’s press release, its net profit for the quarter ending 27 June stood at $29.79 billion, compared with $23.43 billion for the same period the previous year. Earnings per share rose to $2.02 from $1.57.
Apple’s quarterly revenue rose to $109.42 billion, up from $94.04 billion a year earlier.
Analysts surveyed by FactSet had forecast, on average, that the company would post a net profit of $1.89 per share on revenue of $109.04 billion.
Revenue from iPhone sales rose by 22% last quarter to $54.25 billion (the consensus forecast from experts surveyed by LSEG was $53.86 billion), whilst iPad revenue fell by 6 per cent to $6.19 billion (forecast: $6.92 billion). Sales of Mac computers rose by 29 per cent, to $10.35 billion (forecast: $8.74 billion), whilst sales of wearable devices and accessories rose by 6.5 per cent to $7.88 billion (forecast: $7.82 billion).
Revenue from services (App Store, Apple Music, Apple Pay and iCloud) increased by 12 per cent to $30.74 billion (forecast: $31.22 billion).
Apple’s sales in China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan) rose by 22 per cent, in the Americas by 11 per cent, in Europe by 22 per cent, and in Japan by 13 per cent.
According to the company’s forecast, its revenue will increase by 9–11 per cent in the fourth financial quarter. Analysts expect growth of 12 per cent on average.
Apple’s board of directors has approved a quarterly dividend of $0.27 per share.
Apple shares fell by 6.3 per cent in after-hours trading on Thursday. Since the start of this year, their value has risen by 22.7 per cent.
