Apple wants to release a budget Vision Air headset this year

Insider and prototype collector Kosutami recently posted an image of a power cable that he claims belongs to the upcoming Apple Vision Air AR/VR headset. This connector, which comes in a Midnight colour, is different from what we’ve seen in the Apple Vision Pro. It is more compact and has a higher build quality. This could be a sign that the company is working on improving its technology and design for a new, more affordable model.

According to preliminary reports, the Vision Air helmet will be significantly lighter and thinner by using titanium instead of aluminium to make some of the internal components, including the battery pack. However, the body of the device will remain predominantly aluminium, striking a balance between lightness and structural strength. This approach should help reduce the weight of the device, which is likely to improve the user experience.

A more affordable version of the Vision Air is expected to be released between autumn 2025 and spring 2026. It will be an interesting alternative for users who want Apple’s AR/VR experience, but at a lower cost. Since the headset should simplify access to augmented reality technology, we can expect it to be popular among those looking for a lighter and more affordable option among the variety of AR/VR solutions.
