EasyJet boosts pre-tax profit by 21 per cent, shares fall 7 per cent

British budget carrier easyJet Plc increased pretax profit by 21 per cent year-on-year to 286 million pounds ($383 million) in the third quarter of fiscal 2025 (April-June), according to a statement.

The result matched analysts’ average forecast.

Revenue rose 10.9% to 2.92bn pounds. Meanwhile, passenger revenues rose 9.7% to £1.76bn. Revenue per passenger seat (RPS) was up 0.5 per cent.

The airline carried 25.9m passengers in the three months, up 2.2% on a year earlier. Flight load factor climbed to 90.2% from 90%.

EasyJet said its expectations for FY2025 remain positive and reiterated its pre-tax profit forecast of at least £235m. However, the airline warned that a strike by French air traffic controllers on 3-4 July and rising fuel prices would have a negative impact on annual profits.

EasyJet’s share price fell 7.3 per cent during trading on Thursday. The market value of the air carrier over the past three months has grown by 4% (to £4bn), while the FTSE 100 stock index has added 8.3% over the period.
