The Ministry of Health of Belarus approved the Instruction on the procedure for organising medical care in case of mass admission of trauma patients.
According to the text of the document, published on the National Legal Internet Portal of Belarus, a mass admission of trauma patients will be considered if more than five patients, two of whom need emergency medical care, are brought to a district or local hospital within one hour. In the case of city and national hospitals, more than 10 trauma patients, three of whom require emergency care.
Upon admission to the hospital, patients will be “sorted”: the “red” stream will include those in need of urgent care, the “yellow” stream will include those in need of immediate care, and the “green” stream will include trauma patients who are still able to move and care for themselves. Patients will be marked accordingly.
The instruction also defines the algorithm of actions of hospital employees and managers when receiving information about mass traumatisation of citizens. it is noted that in case of mass arrival of patients with traumas, all planned operations not related to threats to patients’ lives may be stopped.
