Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is in hospital in “critical but stable condition,” his spokesman said Sunday.
‘Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has overcome every adversity in his life with unwavering strength and he fights with the same strength now,’ spokesman Ted Goodman wrote on social network X.
He did not elaborate on why the 81-year-old man was in hospital.
US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that Giuliani is “a true warrior and the best mayor in New York City history”.
Giuliani worked as President Donald Trump’s lawyer during his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Giuliani faced criminal charges in two US states and a libel lawsuit from election commissioners. He has denied any wrongdoing in those criminal cases.
In particular, he was under investigation for his business dealings in Ukraine.
In November 2025, US President Donald Trump pardoned his former lawyer Rudy Giuliani and others charged in the 2020 election fraud case.
Rudy Giuliani was the mayor of New York City from 1994 to 2001, especially during the 11 September 2001 attack.
