‘Four weeks or less’ – Trump on duration of operation against Iran

US President Donald Trump responded to a question about the likely duration of the United States and Israel’s operation against the Iranian regime.

“We assumed it would last about four weeks. It’s a four-week process because for all its strength, it’s a big country, it’s going to take four weeks or less,” Trump said in a telephone interview with the Daily Mail.

He reiterated an earlier view that “everything is going according to plan” in the military operation against the authorities in Tehran. “You know, other than the fact that we took out their entire leadership – a lot more than we thought. It looks like 48 people,” the US leader said.

Trump said he spoke to the leaders of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, Qatar and “a few others” on 1 March.

The joint operation between the United States and Israel had already killed Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and a significant number of other senior Iranian regime officials in the first wave of strikes on 28 February.

Iran’s military has attacked with missiles and drones not only Israel or US military installations in the region, but also many of its regional neighbours, which Tehran considers allies of the United States. Not only military but also civilian targets like residential buildings, hotels or airports have come under attack. The military of European countries present in the Middle East were also attacked.
