Google will integrate its own AirDrop into Apple devices

Google is actively expanding the capabilities of its “quick send” service on Apple devices. Experts on Android Authority found new mentions in the code of the beta version of Google Play Services 25.34.31, indicating the upcoming integration.

In particular, the programme code indicates that for iPhone users it will be mandatory to log in to a Google account. This, according to the researchers, is necessary to ensure that the visibility of the smartphone is properly configured – only among its own devices or contacts.

There was interest in this project back in November 2024, when they first found hints of its launch in the code of service programmes. At the same time, Google has not yet officially confirmed its plans.

“Quick Send” is the updated name of the service “Exchange with the environment” and fulfils the role of a direct competitor to Apple AirDrop. With it, users can quickly transfer files and other content between devices. As of today, the service is officially available on Android and Windows, while third-party solutions exist for macOS.
