South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai Motor is recalling 96,300 vehicles in the US due to problems with the instrument panel display, according to a statement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
A software fault could cause the display to fail, meaning that critical information – such as speedometer readings and warning signals – would not be shown, the regulator notes. The software will be updated remotely or at dealerships.
The recall applies to certain models of the Tucson compact SUV, including its hybrid version.
Hyundai Motor shares fell by 4.5% on Friday. Since the start of the year, the company’s market capitalisation has risen by 62%.
