The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced on 21 March that Iran had notified the organisation of an attack on its uranium enrichment facility at Natang.
The agency said no elevated radiation levels outside the facility had been reported, adding that it was investigating the situation.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reiterated his call for “military restraint to prevent a nuclear accident”, the agency added.
Earlier, the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran said the uranium enrichment facility in Natang was attacked by the United States and Israel. However, no leakage of radioactive material was reported.
This is at least the second time the Natanz facility has been targeted during the US-Israeli war with Iran, which began on 28 February.
Natanz was also hit by US B-2 bombers on 1 July 2025 during Israel’s 12-day war with Iran. At the time, US President Donald Trump said the facility had been “completely and utterly” destroyed.
