Iran has started supplying its troops with new Hadid-110 kamikaze jet drones, which could potentially be used by Russia for strikes on Ukraine. This is reported by Defence Express, drawing attention to the high danger of this drone.
The main feature of the Hadid-110 is a jet engine that allows it to reach speeds of up to 510 kilometres per hour. The drone also has a stealth hull that reduces its visibility to radar. It carries a 30kg warhead and is capable of engaging targets up to 350km away.
A particular threat is the flight altitude of up to 9 kilometres. At this altitude, the drone is practically inaccessible to mobile fire groups, anti-aircraft guns and most short-range SAMs. Even interceptor drones usually do not go above 5 kilometres, so intercepting the Hadid-110 becomes very difficult and expensive.
Combat aviation, powerful surface-to-air missile systems or large FPV interceptors will have to be used to combat such UAVs. Experts note that this significantly complicates countermeasures and increases its cost.
Defence Express stresses that the Hadid-110 is a fast, low-observable medium-range drone that is difficult to shoot down and has a powerful warhead. Given Russia’s shortage of such drones, the Iranian design could fit its needs well.
In comparison, the Shahed-107 has a shorter range (up to 300 kilometres), a much slower speed (about 180 km/h) and a payload of only 15 kg. The Hadid-110 is therefore more effective, although it is more expensive. It is also possible that it could be equipped with communication systems for real-time control.
