Hanukkah is celebrated for eight days. This symbolises the miracle of the holiday – even though there was little olive oil in the lamp, the lambada burned for eight days.
During the feast, a prayer of thanksgiving is recited for eight days. They also sing songs that celebrate the miracle of the light.
Also on Hanukkah it is customary to give children small money (Hanukkah gelt), as well as to give children toys, treat them with sweets. Often play Hanukkah wolf (dreadel) – the inscription on which reminds of the miracle of the holiday.
