On 20 August, a protest entitled ‘Běž domů, Ivane!’ (‘Ivan, go home!’) took place in Prague on Boris Nemtsov Square, in front of the Russian Embassy. It was held on the eve of the 58th anniversary of the invasion of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact troops in August 1968.
This year, the organisers highlighted parallels between the Soviet aggression against Czechoslovakia and Russia’s current war against Ukraine.
The event featured speeches by eyewitnesses to the events of 1968, historians and public figures, as well as musical performances.
