Kate Middleton and Prince William attended the ship’s naming ceremony. This is a traditional gala event during which a ship is officially named when it is commissioned.
The Princess of Wales chose a dark blue coat-dress with white stripes by British brand Suzannah London and an elegant hat by famous designer Philip Treacy. The look was a reference to Princess Diana’s outfit, which Lady Di wore at the Battle of the Atlantic anniversary ceremony in 1993 – a Catherine Walker coat-dress with a similar cut and colour scheme.
