Russian singer Kristina Orbakaite and Serbian musician Goran Bregovic have been added to the list of persons banned from entering Latvia on national security grounds.
“Performances in Latvia by persons who support Russian aggression are not in the interests of national security, as they may contribute to increasing inter-ethnic tensions in Latvian society,” Latvian public broadcaster LSM quoted a statement by the State Security Service (SDS) as saying.
Both artists have performed in Crimea since its occupation. Bregović, the SDB said, also “publicly expressed support for the aggressor country Russia while spreading messages discrediting Western countries,” while Orbakaite “participated in various Russian propaganda events.”
Orbakaite and Bregovich were scheduled to give concerts in Latvia in the summer.
