Moscow and the Moscow region have restricted mobile communications and the Internet in order to “ensure safety” during the holidays.
Since the morning of 5 May, residents of Moscow and Moscow suburbs have complained about mobile operators’ malfunctions, and some of them received a message from the Unified State System for Prevention and Elimination of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, which says that “Internet access may be restricted in order to guarantee the safety of festive events”.
On May 5, a rehearsal of the Victory Day parade was held in Moscow. Telegram channel “Beware of Moscow” writes that communication disruptions may last until 9 May.
Moscow police earlier warned of criminal and administrative responsibility for the launch of drones and the use of pyrotechnics amid preparations for the parade, which is expected to be attended by about 20 foreign delegations, including the leaders of China, Brazil and Cuba.
