Spain’s Naturgy has signed a new contract to buy 1 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) per year for 20 years from US-based Venture Global, it said in a statement.
Deliveries are expected to start in 2030. “This agreement is Spain’s first long-term contract for the supply of US LNG since Venture Global’s first contract in 2018. To date, Venture Global has delivered 35 shipments to Spain from the Calcasieu Pass and Plaquemines plants,” the statement said.
Venture Global also announced the day before that it has entered into a new contract with Greece’s Atlantic – See Lng Trade to supply at least 0.5 million tonnes per hour of LNG also for 20 years, from 2030. As part of the agreement, Atlantic – See has the option to expand its purchase commitments.
Atlantic – See LNG is a JV between Greek companies Aktor and Depa. The agreement was Greece’s first long-term LNG supply agreement with a US exporter.
Venture Global previously announced an investment in regasification capacity at the Alexandroupolis LNG import terminal in Alexandroupolis, Greece. The Alexandroupolis receiving terminal and the “South-North vertical corridor” will be critical to strengthening energy security in Central and Eastern Europe, it said.
