Poland buys five thousand video cameras and two thousand infra-red lights to control the border with Belarus

The Polish Border Guard Service will receive even more new equipment. According to Interior Minister Marcin Kierwinski, the state intends to continue investing in improving the security of the eastern border.

Kierwinski said that the border guard will buy specialised equipment, in particular thermal imaging cameras and night vision devices. He emphasised that several hundred million zloty had been allocated to strengthen the border, Polish Radio reported.

“Almost 280 million, almost 5,000 video cameras, about 2,000 infrared lights. All to ensure that the services receive timely signals that there are attempts of illegal crossing at our state border,” the Polish minister emphasised.

The planned investments include strengthening of the patrol road along the border with Belarus.
