Samsung has announced an expanded set of fitness and wellness features that will appear in the new Galaxy Watch 8 smartwatch. The updates include improved tracking of sleep, exercise, stress levels and even nutrition.
One of the key innovations is the sleep optimisation feature: the watch will tell you when it’s best to go to bed, taking into account your habits and biorhythms. Another important option is Vascular Load. It assesses the state of blood vessels during sleep and can identify potential risks to the cardiovascular system.
For runners, there is an intelligent assistant Running Coach. Artificial intelligence will analyse your running technique and endurance in just 12 minutes and create an individual training programme focused on specific goals – from 5 km to a full marathon.
Another interesting feature is the ‘antioxidant index’, which measures carotenoid levels in the skin using the proprietary BioActive sensor. The procedure takes just 5 seconds and allows you to assess the quality of nutrition and the body’s defence against ageing processes. The indicator changes in real time – for example, after drinking carrot juice.
The official presentation of Galaxy Watch 8 is expected in July. Some of the new features will also be available on the Galaxy Watch Ultra, and Running Coach will work starting with Watch 7 models.
