Sony is preparing to unveil its new flagship Xperia 1 VII smartphone in May 2025. Insider OnLeaks, in collaboration with XpertPick, has revealed the device’s specifications and published renders.
The novelty retains the classic design of the Xperia series, with minimal changes-for example, the flash has been moved downwards.
Screen and display The front panel received a 6.5-inch OLED display without notches, which is traditional for Sony. The 19.5: 9 aspect ratio remains the same and 4K resolution has returned after its absence in the previous generation. The screen will support a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Recall that the company dropped the 4K panel in the Xperia 1 VI due to its limited support for dynamic refresh rate. Now Sony has probably solved this problem.
Performanceflagman will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition chipset from Qualcomm, as well as 12 or 16 GB of RAM and 256/512 GB of inbuilt storage.
Autonomy and chargingThe autonomy will be matched by a 5000 mA*h battery with 30W fast charging support.
CameraThe smartphone will get a 12MP front camera and a triple main camera system:
- 48 MP (main) with optical stabilisation,
- 12 MP (ultra-wide-angle),
- 12 MP (periscopic) with 70-200mm zoom.
Additional featuressony continues to stick to its philosophy and has retained the 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a rarity in modern flagships.
