The Israel Defence Forces explained what was actually the target of the attack on Iranian state television

The Israeli Air Force struck a communications centre used by the Iranian Armed Forces, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Spokesperson’s Office said on the evening of June 16 on the social network H.

“The building was used by the Iranian Armed Forces under the guise of civilian activity, covering the military use of the centre’s infrastructure and assets. Prior to the strike, the IDF provided effective advance warning to the civilian population, including telephone calls, in order to minimise harm to the civilian population as much as possible,” the statement said.

Earlier, Iranian agencies reported that the Israeli Air Force carried out an airstrike on the building of Iranian state broadcaster Voice of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRIB).

Prior to this, the Israel Defence Forces issued a warning in Farsi to residents of Tehran’s third district, located in the north-east of the city, advising them to “leave the area immediately” as the Israeli military would soon attack “the Iranian regime’s military infrastructure”.

Forty minutes after the warning, the Israel Defence Forces said that military targets in Tehran were now being hit and promised to reveal details later.
