St Panteleimon is also considered to be a protector of people from fire. During a fire, an icon of St Panteleimon was hung around a burning building three times to stop the fire. Most often it was done when the fire broke out from lightning.
Panteleimon gave help to anyone who needed it without demanding any rewards. This led to the displeasure of many Roman healers, who lost clients and eventually incurred the intense wrath of the emperor. The saint was severely tortured, but thanks to his prayers, nothing could harm him.

O great Christ-pleaser, passion-bearer and healer, the merciful Panteleimon! Have mercy on me, sinful (sinful), Hear my groaning and crying. Having propitiated the Heavenly Supreme Physician, Creator and Healer of our souls and bodies, Christ God, as it is his holy will, grant me, sinful (sinful), healing from the ailment that torments me. Accept my unworthy supplication, for there is no greater (greater) sinner (sinner) from me! Let not my sinful wounds perish, but anoint them with the oil of your mercy and heal me with the grace of the Lord. May I be able to spend the rest of my days in repentance, doing the will of God without fail, and be able to accept the good end of my life. O God-pleaser, beseech Christ the Lord that by your intercession he may grant health to my body and salvation to my soul.

O great Christ-pleaser and glorious healer, Great Martyr Panteleimon! With your soul you stand before the throne of God in heaven and enjoy his triipostatic glory, and with your body and holy icon on earth in the Divine temples, and by the grace given to you you work various miracles. Behold with thy merciful eye the people standing and praying before thy honourable icon, begging from thee healing help and intercession; lift up to the Lord our God thy warm prayers and ask forgiveness of our sins for our souls. For we, because of our iniquities, cannot lift up our eyes to the heights of Heaven, nor can we raise our voices in supplication to His ineffable glory in the Godhead; with a broken heart and humble spirit we call upon thee, the intercessor of mercy before the Lord and pleader for us sinners, for thou hast received grace from the Lord to ward off sickness and heal passions. We ask you: do not despise us unworthy, for we pray to you and need your help; be to us a comforter in sorrows, a physician in afflictions, a patron in adversity, a giver of sight to the sick eyes, a helper to sick children. Ask for everything that is useful for their salvation, so that by your prayers to the Lord God we may receive grace and mercy and glorify the source of all blessings and the Giver of all blessings, God, who is the only one in the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and forever and ever.

O glorious healer, Great Martyr Panteleimon! Look with your merciful eye upon the people who pray sincerely before your honourable icon to the Lord and ask for your help and intercession. Bring to the Lord our God our pure-hearted requests and supplications to him, and help us to beg for forgiveness and pardon for our sins. For we, through our iniquity, crimes, and guilt, have not the courage to lift up our eyes to the heights of heaven, nor to lift up our voices of supplication to the unapproachable glory of God. But You have received from Christ the Saviour the grace to ward off sickness and heal infirmities.
Therefore we ask You: Do not reject us, imperfect and sinful, that we come to You and beseech You: Be to us the Lord’s comfort in our sorrows, by this heavenly power and grace heal our infirmities, together with us implore in God all that for his pardon, purification, and salvation is required; that through our prayers and thine, God’s grace and mercy having obtained, we may glorify the treasury of every good thing and the gifts of the Giver of God, in the threefold of the Most Holy One, the Father, I the Son, i the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages.

Accept the unworthy prayer of the sinner of all men.
Visit me with thy gracious visitation. Do not despise my sinful sores, anoint them with the oil of thy mercy and heal me; that being well in body and soul, I may spend the rest of my days, through the grace of God, in repentance and in pleasing God, and may be able to perceive the good end of my life.
