US President Donald Trump said he was going to discuss Zelensky’s “difficulties”.
“We’re going to discuss the obvious – we’re going to talk about his difficulties. He has a little bit of difficulties – Zelensky. He’s a good guy, I’m going to meet with him today. I don’t know – I assume we’ll talk about Ukraine,” Trump said on 25 June in The Hague, Radio Liberty reported.
Trump also noted that he had “talked a lot” with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. “And he was actually very polite – volunteered to offer assistance with respect to Iran, as you know. I said: ‘I don’t need your help regarding Iran, I need help regarding Russia.’ I said: ‘Do me a favour, help us with Russia, not with Iran.’ But he was very kind. We’re going to talk about it. I think there is progress,” the US president noted.
According to media reports, Trump and Zelensky will meet in The Hague, Netherlands, on the sidelines of the NATO summit on the afternoon of 25 June.
Earlier this month, Vladimir Zelensky was supposed to meet Donald Trump during the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada, but then Trump left the summit early and the meeting did not take place.
