Ukraine has commissioned 1.9 GW of new power generation capacity over the past nine months

In the first nine months of 2026, 1.9 GW of new power generation capacity was commissioned in Ukraine — more than 80 per cent of the annual target. This was announced by Viktor Mykyta, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

“1.9 GW of capacity is now connected. This is more than 80 per cent of the annual target,” he wrote on Telegram following a meeting with the heads of regional military administrations.

According to Mykyta, the meeting’s participants discussed efforts in the regions to increase connected capacity and strengthen energy resilience. Local communities are set to develop decentralised generation with the involvement of businesses and investors.

During the reporting period, more than 620 MW of wind farm capacity, over 520 MW of combined heat and power plants, more than 460 MW of solar power stations and over 270 MW of domestic solar power stations were connected to the grid.

“People continue to install off-grid power supply systems for their homes, and this trend remains strong. We would like to thank the heads of the regional military administrations, local communities, the business sector and everyone else for their work in every region, which is so important for the country,” said the Deputy Head of the President’s Office on Friday.
