Charging an iPhone seems simple, but in reality, speed and safety depend on the charging adapter and cable. That’s why one phone can charge very quickly and another can take hours to charge.
Modern iPhones support fast charging with about 20-27 watts of power. If the adapter is weaker, charging will be slow. A more powerful unit does not harm the battery-smartphone consumes as much power as necessary. Therefore, an adapter with a power reserve is fine.
The cable is equally important. Fast charging requires a USB-C cable that supports Power Delivery. Cheap or damaged cables limit the current, which causes the phone to charge slowly and can overheat. The optimal length is about one metre.
The charging adapter should be of high quality and support the Power Delivery standard. 20W units are suitable for iPhones, and multi-port adapters are convenient for charging multiple devices. If the adapter is very warm or has a foreign odour – it is dangerous to use it. Original or certified chargers are more reliable than cheap analogues.
Wireless charging is convenient, but slower and heats up the smartphone more. It is suitable for daily use, but for quick recharging it is better to choose a cable.
The right charger saves time, saves battery and makes iPhone use safer.
