Currently, the new feature is only available in the test version of WhatsApp for Android, but it is expected to be evaluated by a wider range of users in the coming weeks.
It was previously reported that the messenger plans to gradually replace the display of phone numbers in chats with usernames. However, this is only a part of the updates that the WhatsApp team is working on.
According to WABetaInfo portal, WhatsApp is actively introducing artificial intelligence-based features. The beta version 2.25.18.4 for Android has introduced the ability to create personalised AI assistants. These virtual assistants are easily customisable to meet specific needs – for example, they can act as a motivational coach, learning consultant or travel planning assistant.
The developers note that the new AI tools will offer more capabilities than conventional chatbots as they adapt to the user’s individual needs.
The new feature is expected to become available to more users in the near future.
