Several trains have stopped in the south of Russia’s Voronezh region due to damage on railway tracks. The authorities of the region claim about “minor damage to the cloth”, which was noticed by the driver. About this, in particular, writes the Governor of the region Alexander Gusev in his Telegram channel.
According to Gusev, there are no victims, and representatives of operational services establish the cause of the incident. About the damage to the tracks reports also South-Eastern railway.
The Baza telegram channel close to the law enforcement agencies and several other Russian media outlets say that the tracks were damaged by an explosion. The exact location is given as 725 kilometre of the Yevdakovo-Saguny crossing. It is claimed that the driver of one of the trains noticed the damage to the tracks in time, which prevented the carriages from derailing.
The Yevdakovo-Saguny crossing is located south of the Liski junction station, on the main railway linking Moscow and southern Russia.
Major telegram channels, notably EZH and SHOT, claim that explosive devices were also found on the railway track. This information has not been confirmed.
Late in the evening of 31 May, a road bridge fell near the village of Vygonychi in the Bryansk region before a passenger train passed under it. At least seven people were killed and more than 100 injured. Another bridge fell on the night of 1 June in the Kursk region of Russia. A locomotive driver and two of his assistants were injured. On the same day it was reported about damage to the tracks on another section of the railway in the Bryansk region. There were no casualties there.
The Russian Investigative Committee blamed Ukraine for the bridge collapses.
