Ford is investing $1 billion in the modernisation of its plant in Kentucky

The American company Ford Motor is investing $1 billion in the construction of a new paint shop at its pick-up and SUV manufacturing plant in Kentucky, according to a statement from the company.

The new facility will replace the existing one and enable further modernisation of production.

Construction is due to begin later this year. No specific completion date has been given.

The Kentucky plant manufactures Super Duty series pick-up trucks (models ranging from the F-250 to the F-550), as well as the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs. The company has described it as its main and most profitable plant in the world.

Excluding the new production line, Ford has announced investments in Kentucky totalling around $4 billion in recent years.
