Ksenia Fedorova, the former editor-in-chief of RT France, is to be deported from France. On 29 July, Paris police handed the deportation order to her lawyer, according to the newspaper *Libération*.
The document states that “her behaviour undermines the fundamental interests of the state” and that her presence on French soil “constitutes, for this reason, a particularly serious and immediate threat to public order”.
France considers that “by disseminating her narratives, (Ksenia Fedorova) acts as a conduit for disinformation campaigns organised by the Russian authorities” with the aim of “destabilising public order” in France.
Her activities, as stated in the ruling, “contribute to the spread of disinformation and destabilisation”, aimed at manipulating public opinion and “undermining the trust of European citizens, and in particular French citizens, in their institutions”.
In early February 2022, the French media regulator Arcom launched an investigation into RT France, and in January 2023, the French authorities froze the Russian television channel’s bank account, following which Fedorova announced that it would cease operations. She herself remained in France and took up a position at the centre-right television channel CNews, where, according to local media reports, she continued to “repeat the talking points of Russian state media”.
