Nestlé Purina PetCare, a division of the Swiss company Nestlé S.A., which specialises in the production of pet food, is investing CHF 520 million in the construction of a new factory to produce premium wet food for cats and dogs, along with a logistics complex in Mantua (Italy), the company has announced.
According to the announcement, the facility is due to commence operations in 2029. It will produce super-premium wet food for Purina’s key brands and will become the company’s 15th production site in Europe.
The new logistics centre will ensure more efficient deliveries of Purina products and other company brands, improve transport flows and enhance the resilience of supply chains.
It is noted that the European pet food market is valued at nearly CHF30 billion, and the wet cat food segment grew by 8 per cent in 2025. The investment in Italy is the second major one in this area following the previously announced construction of a CHF370 million plant in Brazil.

In 1998, it acquired a controlling stake in ZAO Lviv Confectionery Factory Svetoch, and since 2018 has held 100 per cent of the company’s shares. In May 2003, Nestlé Ukraine LLC was established in Kyiv, and by the end of that year, Nestlé had acquired 100 per cent of the shares in Volynholding.
In 2010, Nestlé SA acquired Technocom LLC in Kharkiv, a manufacturer of instant food products under the ‘Mivina’ brand. In 2012, Nestlé Business Service (NBS Europe) was established in Lviv; it is one of Nestlé’s seven service centres worldwide and provides support services to Nestlé divisions in more than 40 countries.
Nestlé’s business in Ukraine comprises the following sectors: coffee and beverages, confectionery, ready meals (cold sauces, seasonings, soups, instant meals), infant and specialised nutrition, breakfast cereals, and pet food.
