An important initiative is taking shape in Poland — the development of a special guide for employers and employees, which will provide guidance on how to respond to airborne threats. This was reported by Polish Radio on 29 September. The document will respond to numerous requests from businesses seeking guidance on how to respond to warnings from the government’s Security Centre (RCB).
The issue has become particularly pressing against the backdrop of heightened anxiety in regions bordering Ukraine, where regular warnings of potential airborne threats have become part of everyday life. Leszek Kendzerowski, President of the Lublin branch of the Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers, emphasised that in such circumstances it is crucial for both employees and employers to have a clear understanding of how to act in situations of risk. He stated that, due to the frequency of the warnings, people may stop responding to them; therefore, a clear distinction is needed as to which warnings actually require work to be halted and evacuation to take place.
The Polish National Labour Inspectorate has confirmed that it is actively working on drafting the document. Their aim is to develop guidelines covering various types of warnings and levels of threat. This guide is intended to serve as a reliable tool to help employers make the right decisions in emergency situations.
The eastern regions of Poland are particularly vulnerable to such threats. Air raid alerts in those areas are linked to large-scale Russian attacks on the western regions of Ukraine. These events usually occur at night, when most people are asleep, which makes preparation and coordination of actions all the more important. The new document could become a key element in ensuring the safety of staff and the stability of business operations in times of uncertainty.
