The Kremlin responded to Trump’s spokesman’s statement about dragging out negotiations

The Kremlin on 1 July objected to US President Donald Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine who said that Russia was slowing down peace talks to end the war against Ukraine.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia was grateful to Trump’s team for its help in facilitating the talks, but Moscow was not slowing down the negotiations.

“No one is stopping or slowing down the work on the implementation of the agreements. Objectively, it is difficult to speak here about the possibility of any strong acceleration,” Putin’s speaker said.

The day before, Trump’s envoy Keith Kellogg said Russia should immediately cease fire and move to trilateral talks to end the war.

“Peskov’s recent comments on the state of the talks are Orwellian. Russia’s claims that it is the U.S. and Ukraine that are stalling peace talks are baseless. President Trump has been consistent and unwavering in his insistence on making progress to end the war. We call for an immediate ceasefire and a move to trilateral talks to end the war. Russia cannot continue to delay by bombing civilian targets in Ukraine,” Kellogg emphasised.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov said the other day that the dynamics of the negotiations on Ukraine largely depended on Kiev’s position as well as the effectiveness of US mediation.
