The game is based on OpenAI’s GPT-4o and GPT-4o mini models and lets you interact with chatbots that simulate romantic-comedy situations, Bloomberg reported.
The development is part of Tinder’s strategy to renew interest in the platform. In Tinder’s new game, the chatbot itself starts a conversation, plays out certain scenarios, and users get points for showing sincerity, interest and warmth.
The system provides real-time feedback, and the goal of the game is to get the bot to agree to a date.
The feature is currently only available on iOS in the US and is time-limited. As Tinder’s VP of product development Hillary Payne explained, the idea is to create a safe and relaxed environment to practice flirting confidence. Whether this feature will become a permanent part of the app is not yet known.
Tinder is trying to regain popularity after a decline in user engagement that started back in 2023. The company plans to reverse the growth of the platform by 2027 to attract more investors.
