Trump threatens to punish Iran for Houthi attacks

US President Donald Trump threatens to punish Iran for the Hussite attacks.

“Let no one be fooled! The hundreds of attacks carried out by the Houthis, the sinister thugs and thugs based in Yemen who are hated by the Yemeni people, come from and were created by Iran,” Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social.According to Trump, Iran is playing the “innocent victim” of rogue terrorists over whom it has lost control, but this is not true. Tehran is dictating every move to the Houthis, supplying money, advanced military equipment and intelligence, the US president claimed. “From now on, every shot fired by the Houthis will be treated as a shot fired from Iranian weapons and under Iranian leadership, and Iran will be held accountable and feel the consequences, which will be terrible!”Trump said in the post.

Iran did not respond to Trump’s statement.

A day earlier, US officials vowed to continue striking Houthi targets in Yemen after launching airstrikes aimed at stopping the group’s attacks on shipping and naval vessels in the Persian Gulf region.

Tehran strongly condemned the brutal US and UK airstrikes on various regions of Yemen. Iran’s Foreign Ministry said that “the military aggression by the US and Britain is a flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter and international law, in particular the prohibition on the use of force and the obligation to respect the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of states.”

The strikes on Yemen were the largest US military operation in the Middle East since Trump took office on 20 January. Media quoted US officials as saying the shelling “is not a one-day action – this is the first of many days, if not weeks of strikes”.

Houthi rebels have launched dozens of attacks on shipping over the past 18 months, saying they seek to support the Palestinians in Israel’s war on Gaza. Many shipping companies have been forced to change their courses to longer and more expensive routes to avoid the Gulf region.

The US president has stepped up pressure on Tehran since taking office in January, seeking to bring it back to talks aimed at curbing its nuclear ambitions.
