US believes war in Ukraine will end in January 2026

US Vice-President J.D. Vance expects the war in Ukraine to end within six months at the latest. He said the Vice President in an interview with NBC News.

“Whatever the outcome, whether the war ends within 3 months, or within 6 months, hopefully not later, we should be proud that we have a president who is trying to stop the killing,” Vance said.

He says Russia and Ukraine have made more concessions to each other in negotiations under US President Donald Trump than they did “three years” before he took office. He says the most progress has been made in the past few weeks.

“At the end of the day we will succeed or we will hit a wall. And if we hit a wall, we have to continue the negotiation process by applying leverage. It is this kind of vigorous diplomacy that will end this war,” he said.

Speaking about the new sanctions against the Russian economy, Vance said he believes the White House is already applying “aggressive economic pressure” on Moscow.

“The president has made it clear to Russia that it can be invited back into the global economy if it stops the killing, but will remain isolated if it doesn’t stop it,” the politician said.

He said Washington did not believe Russia was dragging out the negotiations.

“They have indeed shown a willingness to be flexible in some of their basic demands. Of course, they haven’t agreed to everything yet, otherwise the war would be over,” Vance added.

Earlier, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham suggested that in case of a trilateral meeting of the leaders of Ukraine, the US and Russia, the war would end by December 2025.

He made this statement after talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska.

Kiev said it was ready for meetings in any format.

The Kremlin did not confirm plans for a meeting between Zelensky and Putin, saying only that Moscow could “study the possibility of raising the level of representatives” at the Ukraine-Russia talks. And Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia did not reject any format of peace talks on ending the war against Ukraine: neither bilateral nor trilateral.
