The painting was thought to have been lost for almost 90 years. It was valued at 15 million euros, reports CNN.

The painting was restored after it was obtained from two collectors and its authenticity was confirmed with the help of art historian Alfred Weidinger.
The painting by Gustav Klimt was created in 1897 for the colonial ethnographic exhibition Völkerschau in Vienna.
After its sale in 1923 from the artist’s estate at auction, the portrait disappeared from circulation until the Klein family, who owned the painting, fled to Monaco in 1938.
For decades, the whereabouts of the work remained unknown, and in 2023, following an agreement with the Klein heirs and a restoration, the painting was reintroduced to the public realm.
