Colombian convicted of arson in Prague planned other actions

Colombian citizen Andrés Alfonso de la Os de la Cruz, who was sentenced to eight years in prison two months ago for setting fire to three buses in the garages of a Prague transport company, was also planning larger actions.

This is reported by Czech Radio with reference to the Novinky.cz edition. the information about what exactly the Colombian was planning in Prague, the edition obtained on the basis of a request for free access to information from the Prague City Court.

“On the basis of further correspondence, the accused began repeatedly visiting the Cinema City multiplex in the Atrium Flora shopping centre and buying tickets for the sessions with the intention of inspecting the cinema halls during the screenings – all with the intention of taking active basic steps necessary for a successful arson attack using combustion accelerators for an unspecified amount of remuneration in one of the cinema halls after the end of the session,” reads the document signed by Judge Daniela Sara Stolarzova.

De la Cruz is facing charges in Poland for setting fire to two construction warehouses in May 2024. According to Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW), he received instructions from a person linked to Russian security services, including a manual on how to make and use Molotov cocktails. In Poland, if convicted, he faces between 10 years in prison and life imprisonment.

Czech counterintelligence believes that the Colombian was also hired by the Russian secret services in the Czech Republic.
